Only a tiny bit bigger (bytes, not kbytes). As for the speed
differences, none under normal circumstances.

Arguably... kernels for P6 and above don't need this code, but only
for kernel that _require_ P6 and above and won't boot otherwise, else
we end up with insecure kernels.
