Thanks for forwarding the info about the release. I got it
working once I recompiled the kernel to use the serial driver
as a module!

Note for other dummies like me:

It looks like you need to have configured the kernel to use
the serial driver as a module, not builtin. I broke things
by trying to load the serial module with a kernel using a
builtin serial driver. Everything was ok once I rebuilt...

If you have a 16650V2:

Also, I happen to have 16650V2 uarts so I had problems with
the new setserial until I added "#define PORT_16650V2 7" before
the #ifdef PORT_16650V2.

Just in case you thought downloading something from an "alpha"
directory meant it was completely stable:

I have seen some new messages and scary kernel messages.
I'm copying the masq alias so others know that they might
find some glitches... and the kernel list that I'm not on,
so Theodore Ts'o get's some feedback.
