lockd SMP safe ? (problem with NFS on 2.2.x)

HI,
on my SMP linux-i386 I keep getting some
"lockd : cannot monitor 128.93.24.32"

this is the machine where the mail spool is stored.
The problem disappears when i use the nolock option in mount.

Am I the only one to experience this problem?
