Hi,

I made some tests overnight replacing 2.0.36 with 2.2.1 on our LAN
server and encountered the following problems:
(distribution is SuSE 6.0, gcc 2.7.2.3, used .config at
http://www.lrz.de/~huettel/config.txt )

1) in <5min uptime, 2 kernel oopses, problems seem to be in quota
code:

2)
during the first test the machine hung completely within minutes,
last thing I saw in the syslog was

Feb 4 00:29:51 ntserver kernel: Unexpected interrupt 0

3)
Oh yes, the command "sync" segfaulted (!) ...

4)
the program diald I am using for dynamically accessing the internet
produces a warning

Feb 4 00:27:56 ntserver kernel: diald uses obsolete
(PF_INET,SOCK_PACKET)

(is this something I should take seriously?)

5)
and I could not compile ksmoops (I guess this is rather a
distribution-related problem):

(...)
gcc -Dlinux -Wall -Wno-conversion -Waggregate-return
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes
-DDEF_OBJECTS=\"/lib/modules/*r/\" -DDEF_KSYMS=\"/proc/ksyms\"
-DDEF_LSMOD=\"/proc/modules\" -DDEF_MAP=\"/usr/src/linux/System.map\"
-DDEF_CODE_BYTES=1 -c oops.c -o oops.o
In file included from oops.c:38:
/usr/include/bfd.h:52: ansidecl.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [oops.o] Error 1

I hope this helps removing some bugs... other question is, does
anybody know how 2.2-proof SuSE 6.0 really is? (they claim to be...)

Regards,
Andreas
