eh? policy route to specify what's reachable through a locally attached
interface? you should be *adding* this stuff later, after the device is
configured but before anything is listening on this interface. why would
you ever want to replace one of these "implicit" (as you call them, i call
them "you messed up you're config if you want to change them" routes ;-)?
read again: "who's to say what i want?".

extra work having to run the `route' command for directly attached

does!!!!!!
with or without /feature/ it's no extra work, cause it's taken
care of in scripts... or do you ifconfig your interfaces up
manually?? i sure don't. (clue: look in /etc/rc.d/)

partial agreement. theoretically, solves nothing. *practically*, makes
configuring networking under linux far easier.
it makes no difference. those who know, will know. those who
don't will use RedHat's spiffy control-panel. but with /feature/
diald breaks (and eric schenk hasn't touched it in a year).

are you starting to understand??? this new requirement of the
/feature/ for the route command to *exactly* specify the
parameters breaks diald... diald is used by a lot of people.
transition period might be wise.

as it doesn't work with my current setup and is unlikely to be
