2.2.0: lowlevel AWE32 driver makes loud noise during init

Hello,

it seems loading the EMU8000 module makes some sudden loud random
noise for a moment. I suspect it could be the test for sample memory
when the EMU chip is not muted. My card has 2x 256kB SIMMs installed
with no on-board RAM.
