i'm running 2.1.131 kernel (i686, SMP) and ppp 2.3.5 have no problems at
all, using the plain unmodified 2.1.131 kernel with ppp compiled as module
and the ppp daemon `pppd' from ppp-2.3.5.
> Can somebody tell me "cristal clear" what's going on?
I just had a look at the `ppp.c' files in the kernel and the ppp package
and discovered that the linux file is dated 1998/07/07 while the ppp-2.3.5
file is older, dated 1998/03/24.
Maybe it's not a good idea to replace the new ppp.c with an old one. So
have you tried the whole procedure without `make kernel' as i'm doing it?
Hope it helps,
Mark
