This works very well for modems and ethernet cards too. I've got my modem
on COM1 / IRQ4 and my ether on IRQ10. This machine serves the whole house for
internet, so I tune it to 'irqtune 4 10' and the setup just hauls.
0 dropped characters even when doing a big compile of a kernel and/or any other
intensive activity.

That's the same CPU that is in this box. I found a cheap 5v to 3.3v converter
for this AST 486/66 box. Works like a champ and even has Intel PCI chipset..
which is crazy.
