Hi HJ,
No real trick to it. Take an Alpha UDB with RedHat 5.1 installed. Drop
in a 2.1.130 kernel compiled with egcs-1.1 + all of your patches. Then
build knfsd-latest and install that. Boot.
That's it! NIS dead as a doornail.
Change 2.1.130 above to 2.1.x (x < 127) and it's fine.
As to the PPro problems, not sure. Looks like some kind of race which is
triggered only on the SMP box. I never see this on any of the (3) other
Linux Intel machines (libc-5 and glibc-2).
