Shit. It hits.
I changed the X-Server, and it worked again.
The Problem is, that the old X-Server will produce jitters on the
screen, so I won´t use it.

The problem shoes now in this way:

Kernel-Version X-Server behavior
2.0.35 old good
2.0.35 new good
2.1.130 old good
2.1.130 new bad

The fact that the patch provided by Rik van Riel let the problem grow,
tells me that there is part of the responsibility in the scheduler.

So does anyone knows, if the new X-Server for RIVA-128/TNT is
multithreaded and the old one was not?

The news X-Server is the one from http://dimension128.smartcom.net/,
the old one is from X-Free 3.3.2.

Here is the output of ldd:
bash-2.01$ ldd XF86_SVGA*
XF86_SVGA:
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40014000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x4002c000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40030000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)
XF86_SVGA_merk:
libz.so.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0x40014000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40023000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x4003b000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4003f000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)

XF86_SVGA is the new one and XF86_SVGA_merk the old.

Ciao
