I don't particularly care one way or the other, but I suspect we are
just over engineering the solution. I've been to a few conferences and
whenever this situation occurs, people just mill about in the hall way
and chat with the speaker about whatever the topic is - sometimes that
turns into dinner or lunch.
I'm at a loss as to how we would know which are the topics which will
turn into the three hour rap sessions and which are the topics that won't,
especially since the charisma of the speaker has a huge effect; a boring
speaker with a hot topic will still be standing alone at the end of an
hour while a dynamic speaker with even a so-so topic will be swamped.
