I use -r for kexportfs, too.

Red Hat 5.1. The initial 'test' upgrade to 5.2 is in progress as I type.
I've replaced /etc/rc.d/init.d/{nfs,nfsfs} with the corresponding files from
knfsd-981022. Are these exactly what you're using?
They call kexportfs -r on startup, and kexportfs -au on shutdown.
As soon as everyone's gone this evening, I'll try removing the 'kexportfs -au'
on shutdown, in case that's causing the problem.
