SMP Lock ups under 2.1.125

I've been having SMP lock ups under kernels 124-125.

Firstly I get
kernel: Unknown interrupt
Only once then I get
kernel: stuck on smp_invalidate_needed IPI wait (CPU#0)
This usually happens a couple of times.

Under 124 this would then be followed by a long continuos beep
from the PC speaker and would be followed by a lock up.

The beeping seems to have disappeared in 125. And after I get
the last kernel message a lock up will occur within 5 minutes. Or a
switch from X to console will cause an immediate lock up.

I'm running a dual 200Mhz MMX system with a Gigabyte 586DX
motherboard. Info that might help for the Unknown Interrupt thing
I've got PCI Network card, Bt848 Video Card, Matrox Millenium II,
aic7880 SCSI on MB and an SB16 sitting in the box.
