Running this on a completly NFS-hosted redhat-5.1/KDE:
x11amp (44.1 kHz stereo)
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/null
rsh fast-network-server-over-100-MB "cat /dev/zero" > /dev/null
(topping out at 11.5 Mbyte/s)
make bzImage; make modules (-j2)
netscape 4.5 - emptying trash on local mail
x11perf -all
top in xterm
ping -f from-other-machine (10 ppm of the packets are lost)
Occasional clicks (once a minute) from x11amp.
The machine is still perfectly useble for interactive work.
(Alas some of the x11perf runs causes a very jerky pointer.)
Back in the 2.1.120 days this would have crashed almost instantly!
(NFS client problems)
The Matrox G200 is _dammed_ fast with the latest X-server from SUSE!
