Completely untrue. The are not willing to fight the slow and tedious 2.1.x
submission system, nor do they have the time or resources to work on 2.1.x
until its stable. It isnt a case of interest its a case of practical issues.
As 2.1.12x has become solid the people who've been doing all the amateur
radio work have been eagerly porting their improvements because they can
now realistically work on it. Except for NetROM Linus has all of those in
his tree, and Im sure NetROM will be in his tree soon.
Similarly commercial vendors are porting to the distributor shipped Linux
kernel. The point of a company writing a driver is to sell cards. Until 2.1.x
is close to final you can't expect them to worry about 2.1.x. Again there
are lots of them now worrying about 2.1.x because its close to 2.2. In
additional there are a few who discovered the userbase had done it for them
anyway ;)
