In March 1999, there will be a Linux Conference in Singapore.

We are thinking of organizing Linux Installfests throughout major cities in the
nations of Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, and since we never do such things
before, we need guidance.

Has anyone have any experience on organizing Linux Installfest before?

We are interested in getting your view on how to best organize such event, and
things like what to prepare, what to expect, how much difficulties are there,
questions regarding copyrights (for things that are not GPL, such as
Applixware), et cetera.

We are at the preliminary planning stages, and we are looking at the viability
issue, and matters such as logistics is important since it will be an
Installfest hold up to 10 cities in the three countries.

They may not be a simultaneous event, one-city-at-a-time is okay, but the
difficulties is how best we advertise the event, and not getting overwhelmed on
the day of the event.

If you have any experience on the Installfest, or if you have any suggestion,
idea, horror story you would like to share, we very much like to hear them.

We also like to know if there is any FAQ or HOWTO regarding Linux Installfest.
Also, is there any study to show how effective is for the Linux Installfest on
the popularization of Linux?

Our main idea is to popularize the Linux OS in these three countries. Our target
group consists of computer enthusiasts, college students, highschool students
and people from corporate backgrounds. We understand that it is a diverse
target, and as we are in the planning stage, we would like to hear out your
views and change our plans accordingly.

Any help you can render will be very much appreciated.
