Intel DK440LX motherboard & placement of PCI IRQs

Having lots of problems with Intel DX440LX motherboard and placement
of PCI IRQs and was wondering if anyone could help.

RedHat 5.1, kernel 2.0.35 or Kernel 2.1.125.

Have onboard SCSI and eepro100 ethernet devices which insist on
coming up on the same IRQ (usually 9). If I add a cycaldes PCI
serial box then things move around but still clash.

Have upgraded to Intel's latest production BIOS (loads of bug
fixes) - now have BIOS "P10" installed. Problem still persists.

I'm told that "becuase the motherboard is PCI 2.1 compliant" you
can't map the IRQ numbers to the PCI slot/INT #A/#B etc. like you
could on older mother boards.

Should I be running with Pulg & Play enabled or disabled, or
what? Have spent half a day trying all combinations of settings
to no avail.

Any help greatly appreciated.
