3c59x rx errors

hello all,
i'm using a 3c900 (3c59x.c v0.99E), with recent dev. kernels. the card
seems to be having a particularly difficult time receiving packets - the
pertinent part of /proc/net/dev says:

Inter-| Receive
face | bytes packets errs drop fifo frame compressed multicast
eth0: 0 607909 30595 0 0 32996 0 0

is this normal, or a function of the seemingly off-as-of-late 3c59x
driver?
i will be happy to provide any more necessary information.
