Sort of. WIPO is pushing a worldwide intellectual property treaty, but the
U.S. bill goes *far* beyond their treaty. U.S. software companies, music
and video publishers, etc. all want to make absolutely certain that they can
rape you on a "per play" basis without any loopholes that would let anyone
so much as breathe without paying them royalties.
*This* is why free software/open source is just a small piece of the entire
intellectual property picture. The companies behind the
WIPO-plus-the-kitchen-sink bill are the enemies of free software. They must
be fought at every opportunity.
