This proved to be the real problem. I've had several people comment
that I should have read the release notes. Indeed, I would have, had
there been any with the distribution I pulled. I just check the place I
pulled it from and, if by magic, the release notes are where I would have
expected them to be the first time. Perhaps I just missed a mirror
refresh. Anyway, thanks to those who took the time to comment to me.
