Yes.

AIC7890 support in Linux is new - too new to be on any of the
distributors' bootdisks.
Build a bootdisk using kernel 2.1.125 and make the distribution install a
2.1.125 kernel rather than whatever it uses by standard, and it won't be
much of a problem.
