AIC7xxx problems .. even in 5.10

I've read about previous discussion about timouts
with the AIC7xxx. First off, where can I find
README.aic7xxx and my problem has been exactly
the same before and after the 5.10 driver.

I have been trying to get my Adaptec 2940 UW
card to work in the development kernel since 2.1.119.
I hadn't tried any other development kernels before that
one.

The AIC7xxx drivers in all the 2.0.x kernels I've tried work fine.
That includes up to 2.0.34.

The kernel just locks up at the loading fo the scsi stuff.
It says somethign along the lines of:

SCSI 0: 1 host
Timeout SCSI 0 PID 0 etc...
00 00 00 00 00

Sorry I can't copy it letter for letter cause my kernel hangs.
One thing, before the 5.10 driver the line that said SCSI 0: 1 host
said
SCSI <0:0:-1:-1>

I've tried setting the termination to each different one and rebooting
that hasn't worked, and I've messed with other settings in the SCSI
settings, nothing has worked yet. I haven't tried the boot options
since I cant find the README.aic7xxx file anywhere.

One difference I have from my 2.0.x kernels to my 2.1.x kernels
is I use SMP.. I have a dual PPro and never compiled SMP in on 2.0.x
but with the finalization of SMP in 2.1.x, I've only compiled it with
SMP.

I hope this helps, and I'd love any info that can help me understand
and even better get my card working again now that I'm using the
development kernels. Any info at all, I currently almost completely
lost by the error messages. Thanks.
