Power down not working

I use "halt -p" in my shutdown script. The kernel says The system is
halted / Power off, but in fact the power is not switched off.

I hav a Microstar 6109 motherboard (440fx chipset).

How can I get it to work?

(I know the MB is capable of power off, Win95 did it when I tried it.)
