i am experiencing a rather unusual malfunction of my soundcard.
It may be a result of a misconfiguration, but there are strange things to
report. The problem is there in 2.1.122 and 2.1.123 at least.
The symptoms are as follows: I can play sound, until i change the mixer
settings. After that any attempt to play sound generates a lot of:
kernel: Sound Blaster: DSP command(xx) timeout.
where xx is a hex number between a1 and c0
followed by:
Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error ?
Hardware:
Intel UP-P120
Soundcard: ESS1688
Configuration:
I let the BIOS configure the card and compile the driver into the kernel.
/proc/sound
OSS/Free:3.8s2++-971130
Load type: Driver compiled into kernel

SB MPU-401 at 0x330 irq 9 drq 0

So the soundcard is "undead", working and not working.
