It seems that I have contributed this time in the long tradition of "send a
trouble report, just to solve it afterwards". As I stated, a trouble existed
with 2.1.119, and just after I sent my message to the list, I knew that
2.1.124 was out. So I got the patch and compiled it.
At first, I ran into problems much like that of 2.1.123. But I realized that
manually inserting every module I needed, it performed OK. So, I tried to back
up mentally every recent change in my setup. It came up that initscripts-3.67
broke the mechanism, while (my patched version of) initscripts-3.64 made the
deal.
So I have got back to patched initscripts 3.64 and almost everything is
running fine, it seems the IDE CD-ROM is more stable, but SB modules refuse to
reload.
Thanks all and forgive the alarm O:)
Greetings.
