I'd suggest that most people use CVS, and find it workable enough for
their needs. Certainly, for my purposes, developing internal scipts and
small programming projects, it is more than satisfactory.

Oh? Usually, all the great free tools, like gcc, emacs, linux etc. were
what I'd consider the non-sexy comparment. What the free software niche
is most commonly criticized for, is lack of fancy GUIs and animated
paperclips etc.

IME, people tend to write software they need, not software that markets
well. That Linux also is becoming a marketing success, is more an
accident than design, IMHO.
