Larry McVoy is working on his own version control system. Dave, I and
I think most other open source/free software folks would rather fix/use
CVS since it will be free software.

I dont count it as a tree. I think its misleading to do so. Stuff goes into
it when Im getting it tested, trying some changes etc. From that stuff
goes to Linus or for fixing. Every so often I recycle stuff Linus didnt accept
but didnt bitch about. Some of the time I get "this sucks because.." type
messages from Linus and drop bits or fix them. So its sort of a peek into
the in queue.

They are actually now a lot closer. One problem with the 2.0.x model is that
devices continue to appear faster than kernel major revisions. The vendors
have had little choice but to to ship different trees. Also their goals are
different. A "this fixes it" hack is acceptable to a vendor because it doesnt
go into the future. Putting a "this fixes it" hack into the main tree isnt
good enough.

Much of 2.0.34/5 is a distilled "best of Vendor". Some of the .36pre changes
likewise
