I have very good news: 2.1.123 patched with your patch has been happily
running for the last 10 hours without any visible problems. The machine is
our main news server, so it's getting quite a beating. Connect times to
the server have improved significantly, which was quickly noticed by our
users. :-)
Of course 10 hours is a very short period for meaningful testing, but so
far I've no problems whatsoever.
