No, it is possible. If you have a putmsg syscall wrapper is libfoo.so
and you link the application as

gcc -o bar bar.o -lfoo

the dynamic linker looks first in libfoo.so and then in libc.so.
Therefore a definition in glibc does not introduce any problems.
