Yes, but the actual data on the disk is lossless (error corrected) digital. If
Sony would add a digital data input/output, it would work Since MD compresses
sound to 1/6th, one MD can store about 110 MB of uncompressed raw data.

Besides, for CD-ROM they use stronger error correction than for CD-DA, because
it's worse to lose data than to hear a bit of noise or a scratch.

[*] Didn't I read some time ago they were planning to do that? Or are they
pushing DAT and AIC for backup only?
