[I've sent this message to linux-ppp but I got no response]

Hi,

ok, i know 2.1.100 is special because of some bugs with the version number
checking, but
- I'm using pppd 2.3.5, it is said to be ok with >=2.1.100
- I've tried a recompiled and a pre-packed version (debian)

The symptom:

Sep 6 14:39:40 localhost chat[239]: Password:
Sep 6 14:39:40 localhost chat[239]: -- got it
Sep 6 14:39:40 localhost chat[239]: send (??????)
Sep 6 14:39:40 localhost pppd[238]: Serial connection established.
Sep 6 14:39:41 localhost pppd[238]: Using interface ppp0
Sep 6 14:39:41 localhost pppd[238]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS2
Sep 6 14:40:10 localhost pppd[238]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Sep 6 14:40:10 localhost pppd[238]: Modem hangup
Sep 6 14:40:10 localhost pppd[238]: Connection terminated.
Sep 6 14:40:14 localhost pppd[238]: Terminating on signal 15.
Sep 6 14:40:14 localhost pppd[238]: Exit.

with 2.1.99 it always connects.

So: 1. have I to install a patch for pppd (i was said its not neccessary) If
so, where it is? I couldn't find anything on linuxhq/linuxmama/altavista
2. shall I do something more deep to find the problem?

Thanks,
Pista
