free blocks count corrupted

Whilst untarring a tar file (60/230MB) on a 2.1.117 with Alan's patches,
this appeared (twice):

Sep 2 21:20:48 bridgett kernel: EXT2-fs error (device 16:07):
ext2_new_block: Free blocks count corrupted for block group 25

Around that time it also started returning "out of space" to the tar
process, even though there was stacks of space left (according to df).

Everything is run as a normal user. A machine hang earlier (NFS probably,
but no messages in log or on screen) meant that the disk (hdc7) had been
done in, but I had done a e2fsck afterwards and so the disk should be fine.

Running e2fsck did this:

e2fsck 1.12, 9-Jul-98 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
/dev/hdc7 contains a file system with errors, check forced.
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Pass 2: Checking directory structure
Pass 3: Checking directory connectivity
Pass 4: Checking reference counts
Pass 5: Checking group summary information
Block bitmap differences: +207019
Fix<y>? yes

/dev/hdc7: ***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****
/dev/hdc7: 3796/481280 files (7.2% non-contiguous), 1300284/1922224 blocks

Cheers

Adrian
