yesterday I've used Linux 2.1.119 kernel for the first time on a PC
running XFree86 3.3.1 (SuSE 5.1) with xdm and using the `chooser'
(never tried 2.1.x before with xdm/chooser there!).
using 2.1.x I don't get the choice `localhost' anymore, only a list
of available hosts on the network (including the PC itself).
any idea why `localhost' is missing in the xdm chooser list with 2.1.x kernel,
while it shows up with 2.0.x ?
if you'd like to try yourself, use an empty /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers file,
first start xdm and then start `X -indirect $HOSTNAME'
