Hello,

With kernel 2.1.118 i got a:

Aug 26 17:25:42 sjoerd kernel: hdd: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
Aug 26 17:25:42 sjoerd kernel: hdd: DMA disabled
Aug 26 17:25:42 sjoerd kernel: hdd: ATAPI reset complete

and:

Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: hdd: packet command error: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: hdd: packet command error: error=0x54
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: ATAPI device hdd:
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: Error: Illegal request -- (Sense
key=0x05)
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: Illegal mode for this track -- (asc=0x64,
ascq=0x00)
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: The failed "Read CD" packet command was:
Aug 26 17:33:51 sjoerd kernel: "be 04 00 00 f2 48 00 00 06 f8 00 00 "
Aug 26 17:33:58 sjoerd kernel: hdd: packet command error: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Aug 26 17:33:58 sjoerd kernel: hdd: packet command error: error=0x54
Aug 26 17:33:59 sjoerd kernel: ATAPI device hdd:
Aug 26 17:33:59 sjoerd kernel: Error: Illegal request -- (Sense
key=0x05)
Aug 26 17:33:59 sjoerd kernel: Illegal mode for this track -- (asc=0x64,
ascq=0x00)

while ripping (cdparanoia) an audio CD (CDrom=hdd, output file on hdc)

I'd noticed this also sometimes with previous kernels, but no harm is done.

hdc=QUANTUM FIREBALL SE6.4A
hdd=ASUS:ASUS CD-S340, ATAPI 34x, 128kB Cache
processor=AMDK6-2/300

Just an other thing, i noticed (not _yet_ with 2.1.118) also sound DMA/IRQ
problems, and i think that must be under relative high load.
(SB16-Vibra-pnp, modular driver,io=0x220 irq=10 dma=1 dma16=5
mpu_io=0x330)

Aug 24 20:59:11 sjoerd kernel: Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ
config error?

Brings me to the question, are those messages related? and if the IDE
driver uses DMA, which dma channel does it use?
