2.1.116 hangs on boot

Hello-
I have a sound blaster awe64. 2.1.116 hangs at boot on starting
sound configuration, when kernel is monolithic. When sound is compiled as a
module, it will boot, but when typing modprobe -a sound, I get the message-too
many dma. Sound works as monolithic with 2.1.115. Tried compiling it a couple
times, with the same result. Any suggestions? LP
