Howdy all!

Sorry if this question seems a bit niave, but after a lot of searching I have
no idea where else to find the solution to my problem:

I'm trying to run 2.1.109 (RH 5.0) on my Gateway 9100 laptop in order to
utilize the new PCI-BIOS over-riding features in the newest kernels so that I
can actually use CardBus pcmcia cards (wouldn't it be great if they were in
the stable kernel releases? :)

Anyway, when shutting down the system, my system freezes when trying to umount
my hard drive. In addition, whenever I try to mount or umount anything
(floppy, scsi HD, IDE HD) during normal system operation the system freezes.

I've done all the updating mentioned at: http://www.linuxhq.com/change21.html
Also: mount is version 2.8

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
I'd also be happy to provide more details if required.

Thanks in advance.
Stephen
