Not a good idea. In most respects Alexey is bang on right. Address mask
replies should only be done if you have been explicitly told to answer
them - and you write a daemon for it if you are worried

There are better techniques for this mapping -SNMP querying the netmasks
off routers for example, pinging each entry in the address range and counting
the replies is another good heuristic
