2.0.35p1 - Unable to load interpreter

Mike Perry (mikepery@mikepery.linuxos.org)
Sun, 28 Jun 1998 16:59:59 -0500 (CDT)

I was playing around with some LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables to be able to
run libc5 netscape, when suddently
everything went nuts. Usually, all I have to do get a working shell back
is just unset the environment variable, but this time something went
terribly wrong :)

Even in shells that I didn't set the envirnment variable in were getting
segfaults and Unable to load interpreter messages whenever I tried to run
anything (ls, telnet, any glibc app), and the following appeared in my
logs.

Jun 28 16:42:29 mikepery kernel: Unable to load interpreter
Jun 28 16:42:48 mikepery last message repeated 2 times
Jun 28 16:43:50 mikepery last message repeated 4 times

I switched out of X and back again, and everything was black. After
banging on it a bit, I gradually got windows to come back, then I dragged
them all around to clear the black out of the display, and the system
seems to be OK now.

I'm on a AMD K6 with ld.so.1.9.9 (in case it's a shared lib thing... I
didn't get the chance to try a static prog). Here's dmesg (off of
the still running machine), and .config.

Oh, and it's really hot out here, so ComEd has been cutting the wattage a
little I suspect... I don't know if it would cause this though.

If you need any more info, let me know.
