The computer is a Dell OptiPlex GXpro [Pentium Pro 200, 128meg Ram]. It
is connected via parallel cable to the printer, a huge, rather old,
Tektronix color wax printer. It serves the office, using lpd for unix
boxes and samba for the windows boxes. It functions just fine in 2.0.33.
I have tried flipping SPP/EPP mode in the Bios to no effect.
Under 2.0.33 the device is /dev/lp1
Relevant info under 2.1.105 [compiled as SMP on single-processor Machine]
I have tried it in both default polling mode and also on irq7. Neither
workse.
[on 2.1.105]:

I have searched for solutions for a while and can't seem to find any. It
is annoying having to reboot into 2.0.33 whenever someone needs to print a
color picture ;) [2.1.x has nice features, like ntfs, dcache speed, APIC
code, and X doesn't crash if I move the mouse too soon after a vt switch].
The only thing left I will try is compile it as non-smp.
Any help would be appreciated.. thanks...
