I have a few 45 G RAID boxes that use the DPT controllers.
I put the MBR on the disk with the Win95 `fdisk /mbr' command
and set the root partition to be the active partition with the
Linux fdisk command. I've had no problems with LILO using this
config file:
boot = /dev/sda1
prompt
vga = normal
image = /smp103
root = /dev/sda1
label = smp
read-only
