ppp problems in 2.1.102

Hi all,
I'm stumped here... I can't get 2.1.102 to connect via ppp. I've
dropped back down to 2.1.98 and everything's fine. Here's what I've done:

1. Upgrade to 2.1.102
2. Compile ppp-2.3.5 and install
3. Try to dial out.

The modem dials, connects, and then the ppp daemon times out trying to
send some LCP packets. Specifically, the accomp and pcomp stuff.
Removing them doesn't help.

I booted with 2.1.98 and used that very same ppp-2.3.5 to connect, and it
works just fine. This has got me stumped... Does anyone out there know
what I'm doing wrong?

Pat
