Kernel options

Hi there.

Am I right in thinking that the different architectures use a
different format for the kernel image options?

The reason I ask is that I've been playing with the rdev, swapdev,
ramsize, rootflags and vidmode commands recently, and as a programming
exercise, I took up the challenge in the BUGS section of the manpage
to write a version that was more intuitive to use and allowed multiple
kernel parameters to be set with a single command. As a result of the
above, I have a program working with i386 kernel images, but I would
presume that it won't actually work with non-i386 images such as the
Alpha and Sparc ports for the reason specified - though if it can be
made to work with them as well, I'd be willing to do so, just tell me
what the requirements are for the non-i386 ports...

For those of you who'd like to try it out, I've (hopefully) made it
available in RPM format (It's my first RPM set, so I may have boobed
somewhere), and they can be downloaded as follows:

Q> ftp://cus.umist.ac.uk/pub/rhw/OS/Linux/knl-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm
Q> ftp://cus.umist.ac.uk/pub/rhw/OS/Linux/knl-1.0.0-1.src.rpm

Best wishes from Riley.
