2.1.100 pppd problems

The problem is in the version numbering!

if I redefine SUBLEVEL=99 in 'linux/Makefile', pppd works OK

(I'm using RH5 ppp-2.3.3-4)

BTW, the old ftp out stalls are _not_ solved.
