2.1.9[79] : Out of file handle at boot

I have the following messages several times (about ten) at boot time
with kernel 2.1.97 and 2.1.99 (I have not tried 2.1.98) :

modprobe : out of file handle
modprobe : out of file handle
modprobe : can't locate module net-pf5

It does not surprise me that it does not find net-pf-5 (which is
appletalk, I believe), since I didn't compile it. But I don't know why
it looking for it.
