That's a terrible stuff, I'd ignore it. I've been sent the specs as
gpm wasn't able to deal with pnp mice.

The specification requires the devices to output a longish id string,
and nothing else. Well, it requires the devices to talk at 1200 baud,
and plays with DTR as well -- so UPS's will shut down when probed by
w94. Besides, the new stuff claims to be compatible with unaware mouse
drivers, but it is not: there's none of the control stuff supported
by older and better mice, so the decoder locked up the device (or
vice-versa, which achieves the same effect).

The world was better before that stuff.
