hi everyone -

just wanted to be clear on this issue; kmod *DOES* support nested
request_module() calls. it was never our intention not to support these,
and while it is true that early implementations of kmod exhibited odd
behavior during some nested request_module() calls, the latest version
(including patch submitted last week by greg zornetzer) does support
these calls, and seems to work well on my pre-2.1.92 box which uses
nested request_module() calls to load its scsi drivers, among other
various things. if you're still experiencing trouble with kmod and
nested request_module() calls, and you have not applied greg's patch,
please grab it and try again. if you *have* applied greg's patch, please
let me or kirk (kirk@speakeasy.org) know, and we'll look into it. thanks!
