EATA drivers broken?

I've been unable to get Linux to detect my DPT Smartcache III (2024) in
.86-.91. It works in .85. The error message I get on startup is:

eata_dma: trying to reset HBA at 6010 to clear possible blink state.
HBA at 0x6010 does not react on INQUIRY. Sorry.

I've also tried the eata driver, which just stops at that point with no
output, and I tried the eata 4.01 patch I saw on the list, that printed
out some info but still didn't detect it. Unfortunately, I don't still
have that kernel to fish out the error message.

I'm running a Tyan Tomcat II with 2 P166's, the DPT 2024, some ide
drives, scsi hard drives, scsi cd changer, and a lot of other junk.

Any thoughts? I browsed through the .86 patch, but not being overly
familiar with the kernel internals, I didn't see anything obvious.
Thanks..

Dave
