Kernel graphics based on VBE

Hi!

I would like to tell you that I'm interested in vbe
package. Unfortunately, vbe is meant for 2.0 and I'm already running
on 2.1. (and I've been on 2.1. for so long that I can't go back).

You might like to know, that in 2.1. there's thing called framebuffer
- look at drivers/video. In 2.1.latest/cvs it even works on i386
architecture.

Pavel

PS: Hey, this is _really_ hack. But I'm glad to see it, as I'm gonna
receive some kind of thinkpad. You *want* to make it compatible with
other framebuffers in linux - that will give you X support for free.

(Please consider 2.1.X port. It may even make your life easier as it
has generic fbcon layer.)

PPS: You seem to have big part of VM86 emulator included. Why don't
you just run bios with IOPL=3? You would not have to emulate cli/sti &
you would not have to mess with ioport bitmap.
