Letting the chips fall where they may, I quote tzanger:

Whada'you people have against I2C? I played with I2C before I started playing
with Linux -- back in my OS-9 (OSK) days... the 68070 had an I2C bus
controller built into it. I stopped when I upgraded that machine to a
68340 -- Kevin Peasse (sp) didn't see any point in putting an I2C interface
chip on the board as there was little push in the I2C direction. I2C makes
for an interesting network of devices (I have a VCR that, oddly, has an I2C
interface controller inside it as part of the remote logic.)

I have a few SCSI drive shelves with an I2C comm. bus. (what NetApp calls
the EMU (env. monitoring) bus.)

I2C is sorta like localtalk (but not.)

PS: That was a decade ago and no long have that machine (gave it away) or
the documents (moved too many times :-))
