As of 2.1.91 (up to 2.1.92-2), printing fails
on my machine. The output on booting shows the
changes:

2.1.90 boot:
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [SPP,PS2,ECPPS2]
parport0: Printer, HEWLETT-PACKARD DESKJET 690C
Serial driver version 4.24 with no serial options enabled
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
lp0: using parport0 (polling).

/proc/parport/0/hardware
base: 0x378
irq: none
dma: none
modes: SPP,PS2,ECPPS2

2.1.92-2 boot:
parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7, dma 3 [SPP,PS2,ECP,ECPPS2]
parport0: no ID data returned by device.
Serial driver version 4.24 with no serial options enabled
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).

As the last change in Documentation (parport.txt)
was in November, it is difficult to figure the cause.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
